While storm Kristine was creating chaos across the country, I was dealing with a different kind of storm. It was equally chaotic. A certain Gwen Ty was messaging people who actively interacted with my public posts. She’s been telling them that I was a scammer who take away people’s money totaling to a 5-digit amount.
After being informed by my family and friends about the message that they received, I checked my message request section and found out that she has been messaging me as well. So, I responded to her message.

According to Gwen Ty, she was scammed by a certain Nah Di, who later introduced herself as me, sent her my passport bio-page as proof of identity and instructed her to send the amount to a Maya account (0947 377 8124) and gave out my name as the Account Name. The sender, of course, assumed that I was the one who received the money she sent from her G-Cash Account to the said Maya account.
When Gwen Ty and I talked over the phone, she explained that the scammer didn’t want a G-Cash to G-Cash transaction, because the sender wanted to avail the Protection feature that will allow her to retrieve her money “just in case” there were signs of fraud or if she changes her mind.
I reinstalled the Maya App on my phone, as I haven’t used it even once since I opened an account when it was still known as PayMaya. I created a ticket and asked to be transferred to a live agent. Lance has been helpful, telling me that it was impossible for me to have two accounts under the same name. Maya is very strict with the verification method in opening an account, requiring video shots of the account owner while holding a valid ID.

Lance explained further that the probable case would be that the said Account Number bears a different Account Name. I wondered how the sending could push through despite putting in an incorrect Account Name. Lance explained that the App only needs a valid account number for the transaction to push through.
Furthermore, Lance recommended that I reach out to the cybercrime group to get help…
